Washington Butler is a Puyallup native who was interested in the arts at a very young age. The choir she sang in was entered into contests for singing and also performed in high school and community theatre. After moving into Los Angeles, she studied theatre at The University of Southern California and was Belle the Princess in Beauty and the Beast at Disneyland for a year and an entire quarter. The main objective was to secure a agent for talent. Then she auditioned for roles on TV as well as film. Butler guest starred in The TV series CSI: Miami. In 2008, she appeared as a character in Don Stark's web-series Luke 11-17. Butler played the lead role on I Spit on Your Grave (2010), which is a remake 1978 cult movie of exactly the same name. Though initially, she wasn't a fan of the film's brutality and sexual violence, she came to accept the film's feminist tone as well as its strong characters.
